The second round of the 2024 PGA Championship is underway at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville after Friday’s start time was delayed by more than an hour.

The tournament delay resulted from a traffic accident outside the golf club in which a pedestrian was killed by a shuttle bus.

This is golf’s second major tournament of the year, coming just five weeks after Scottie Scheffler claimed the green jacket at the Masters in Augusta, Georgia.

Scheffler was one of 156 golfers vying Thursday through Sunday for a cut of the PGA Championship’s $17.5 million purse, of which the winner receives $3.15 million. However, Scheffler’s status was unclear after the world’s No. 1-ranked golfer was arrested by Louisville police outside Valhalla on Friday morning. Scheffler reportedly defied instructions by police not to drive around the accident scene on his way into the course.

Brooks Koepka is the tournament’s defending champion, and Tiger Woods, who won the PGA Championship at Valhalla in 2000, is also in this week’s field along with local favorite Justin Thomas.

Xander Schauffele led the tournament after Thursday’s first round, tying a major championship record with a 9-under-par 62 for a four-shot lead.
